JKR Wins 2009 Gold
The National Association of Home Builders awarded JKR Partners’ Warrington Senior Commons the 2009 Best Overall Assisted Living Community (on the boards) at their annual Building for Boomers: 50+ Housing Symposium. Warrington Senior Commons was one of more than 200 projects submitted for the awards competition. The project team of Glenn Werner (Principal-in-Charge), Jose Hernandez (Project Manager) and Mike Izzo (Project Designer) graciously accepted the award at the gala reception held at the Philadelphia Downtown Marriott.
Warrington Senior Commons was designed to be distinctive: a contemporary building creatively differentiated from typical senior living residences. The design team’s goal was to encourage families to bring their loved ones to this facility because it was upbeat and fun. The spaces are vibrant and cheerful for families to enjoy. The team capitalized on the challenge and created a building that is dynamic, inspiring and invigorating. For these residents, the “good old days” can still occur.
Jurors’ Comments: What terrific planning on a small site! The exceptional massing of this design, with its proposed use of glass and volume space gives this smaller project the feeling of a much larger project. Wonderful!
