West Oak Lane Charter School Ribbon-Cutting Celebration
On November 16, the JKR Partners team of Jerry Roller, Glenn Werner and Michael Schmitt attended a ribbon-cutting celebration and open house for Ogontz Avenue Revitalization Corp.’s (OARC) West Oak Lane Charter School expansion on Stenton Avenue. JKR Partners designed the $16 million project, increasing the student capacity to 850 students. The new 64,000-square-foot building features 30 new classrooms, gymnasium, learning center, specialized learning spaces and a new administrative suite. A central atrium connecting the three floor levels is a major highlight. Energy-saving and environmentally sound design features were utilized throughout the building and site, including new green areas, a cool roof, abundant daylighting, and independent climate control and ventilation for each classroom. Construction was a Shoemaker - Perryman Co. joint venture.
